Radio

So I find myself driving quite a bit, that inherently leads to the radio being listened to a good deal of the time. I didn’t think it could possibly get any worse for radio than it was a few months back when they played Akon/Pitbull back-to-back on every single station with the same transition between the same two songs. I wanted to remove my ears with pliers in disgust and when they finally stopped that madness I finally figured it was safe to turn on the radio again

Was I ever wrong. It seems that the minds behind mainstream radio have decided that Drake’s “Best I Ever Had” should be played 14 times in one hour. I never want to hear the introduction to that song again. When my finger accidentally switches to any urban radio station and I hear that song come through the speakers I switch to the Kid Cudi CD until the travesty has passed. That will be enough. There is a reason I am writing this post.
The poor performance of radio over the years has lead me to listen exclusively to Sports and National Public Radio. If you live in the US than you no doubt have heard NPR before. Its the station that sounds like people having a conversation…all..day..long. Its truly a thing of beauty compared to the “bombs” dropped by Tre all day on 90.3 z90. NPR is basically one long stream of relaxed discussion on everything from current events to homeless people living in subways tunnels in Chicago. As you are starting to probably realize by now, it may not be for everyone but for myself, nothing even comes close.

I could be completely off base with this post, the vast majority of you could probably care less and would rather see more pictures of Hulk Hogan or posts about Mixtapes. Well all of that will come back in the future. For now, take a drive and enjoy some of this NPR derived goodness.
